A Stone's Throw Art Gallery, located in its new home inside Kernville Antiques and Gifts at 13 Big Blue Road, and Katharine Edmonson held a wine and cheese reception for two of A Stones' Throw's artists on Saturday evening. There was music outside in front in the warm late summer air as Out Of The Blue performed. Art displays were set up on the sidewalk and in the gallery inside.

Ellen Shafhauser

Photographer and writer Ellen Shafhauser of Lake Isabella has lived in the valley since December, moving here from Ridgecrest, but she has been a river rafting guide here for 20 years.

Schafhauser spent 10 weeks in India in December 2004 and came back with beautiful and haunting images which she has framed and is displaying at A Stone's Throw. She is offering 10 percent of the proceeds from her India series to Indian causes empowering women and disadvantaged children.

Schafhauser was teacher in Ridgecrest for 10 years and is a freelance biologist. She also displays her work in galleries in Santa Barbara.

Sarah Teed

Sarah Teed of Lake Isabella does glass art and ceramics, and paints as well. She lived in Hawaii for nine years, but came back to the valley to be with family.

Teed will soon be studying glass blowing, which she said she truly loves, at the Penland School of Crafts after receiving a scholarship. The Penland School is a national center for craft education and is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina.

Teed's fine ceramic and glass work includes such objects as masks. Her art is striking in bold colors. Teed works in her own studio in Lake Isabella.
