The residents of HI HO Residential Area in Kernville got together and put up the Christmas decorations in their common room last week. And they also were given two compact flourescent light bulbs for each of their homes.

Each CFL bulb will save them about $60.00 in the next five years in electricity bills they won’t have to pay. With 38 homes in the complex, a total of $2,280.00 will be saved in electric bills.

The best part of the story is that it was a true Christmas gift. Nancy Miller saw a story in the Kern Valley Sun about the compact fluorescent light bulb giveway program being conducted by KVPAC (Kern Valley Progressive Alliance for Change) and told the property manager about it. Karen Schuber, the manager, called KVPAC and arranged for the light bulb presents to be given to each home on the day they got together to decorate the club house tree.

These bulbs were provided by Southern California Edison as apart of their larger program to reduce energy use through more efficient appliances. Go online www.sce.com/big or call 800-799-4177 savings for more information on Refrigerator, attic fan and other rebates offered by California Edison.
