Youth receive $3,000 for nutrition program

Jeanette Rogers representing the Kern Community Foundation presented the Kern River Valley Youth Center on Monday, Feb. 11 with a check for $3,000.

The money is to help fund the youth center's nutrition and fitness program. The youth center has developed a program that incorporates fitness, nutrition, and team building skills. The Valley Fitness Center located in Lake Isabella has offered fitness professionals that are going to teach students how to safely use exercise equipment. The youth center is not planing to teach student body building techniques, but rather methods for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Local chiropractor, AYSO, and youth football coach Wesley Williams is going to provide educational materials to help educate participants on healthy eating habits as well as drug awareness.

Ron Montague, Wes Williams, Jeanette Rogers, Burt Landry, Debbie Williams, Jan Montague, and Allan Jaffe.

Students who plan to participate in the nutrition and fitness program will also have the opportunity to take part in a team building workshop provided by John Stallone of Mountain River Adventures.
