Summer Campbell - Special to the Sun

It is once again time for Kern Valley’s annual tent revival meetings. The Last Call Tent Ministry will begin May 2 and run through May 12. The meetings which are open to the public will begin at 7:00 p.m. with an extended period of worship and will be followed by an evangelical message and ministry time. The nightly gatherings will take place at the corner of Lake Isabella Blvd and Webb Street. 'The purpose of the event is to bring healing, deliverance and salvation,' said event coordinator Linda Myers.

These revival meetings will showcase Rev. Joe Furguson who is returning for the third year. Ferguson and his wife Betty have been in ministry for 22 years and are excited to build on the amazing events of past years. Last year some 14 residents were water baptized in the Isabella Lake, and many more received prayer for healing. Furguson along with other local ministers and believers offer prayer and fellowship to every individual in attendance.

St. Jude Catholic Church's newly confirmed, left to right: Sayd Alvarez, Kevin Forbes, Jose Lopez, Marlene Hernandez, Ignacio Anzaldo, and Robert Ochoa on Saturday, April 11.

The meetings will last eleven days and draw various local residents from nearly every denomination and church. The Furguson’s not only offer humorous messages, but are involved in nearly every aspect of the revival meetings. They provide portions of the worship music and are always willing to pray and minister to anyone in need of healing or spiritual rejuvenation. The Furguson’s 'Last Call Tent Ministry' has traveled all across the country and even into Canada, Mexico and Alaska. The Furguson’s are also fond of visiting Indian reservations where they share the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Joe Furguson was born in the Osage Indian Tribe of Wyoming and Oklahoma and thus has a personal desire to serve the people that are connected to his heritage. The Furguson’s reside permanently in Nevada, but they spend a great deal of their time on the road delivering sermons to all who are willing to receive the message they desire to share.

Local believers are looking forward to the annual event and wish to invite anyone in need of healing, deliverance or prayer. For more information on The Last Call Tent Ministry revival meetings call 379-3926.

" Brother Joe was my dads best friend and both great ministers. God Bless Joe and his continuance of spreading Gods word. His wife Betty passed away 2 years ago she was a wonderful woman and worked so hard beside Joe. My dad passed away while him and Joe was ministering in WA State in 1989. God keep his hand on you Joe through your travels with the word of God. "
