Adan Fraga, 20, of Merced, died July 14 while working on a job site at Woodrow Wallace School in Lake Isabella. Fraga was crushed when the 10,000-pound portable building he was working on collapsed, investigators said. He was underneath the portable reportedly removing some bolts, when it collapsed and crushed him, Fraga was employed by Sure Set Company, a subcontractor of JTS, the Bakersfield-based general contractor providing the renovation work at the campus. “At 1:40 p.m., while working on a modular building, it collapsed crushing the decedent,” the report stated. Fraga was taken to Kern Valley Hospital where he later died.
“Cal-Osha was called immediately,” said KUSD Superintendent Mary Barlow, who was out of state at the time of the accident.

“Our condolences go out to the family,” said Tom Moore, KUSD Board of Trustees president. “This is tragic.” He added that the site of the accident is secure and that no students were on campus at the time. Work on the renovation project will continue. Fraga will be buried in Mexico.
