Firefighters contain blaze near Kern Valley Plaza

A fast moving fire broke out about 5:30 p.m. Friday on the frontage property on Lake Isabella Blvd, between Kern Valley Plaza and AltaOne Bank. Kern County Fire Department and the Forest Service each brought in a helicopter for water drops, while the agencies’ firefighters battled the flames on the ground and fought to keep the blaze under control until it was contained about 6:30 p.m. No structures were destroyed and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

    " Thank you for running this story and posting the pictures. I knew the fires here were hot, but to see green trees burning like that makes me real nervous about wildfires. I thought having some lush green growth around the house would protect us. I was wrong. It is a wake up call to be even more diligent in our efforts to keep our property "fire safe"
