Special to the Sun
We've finally come to the Checkered Flag on our inaugural NASCAR, Dale Jarret trivia contest. These last few questions are going to determine the Valley's #1 Fan, ( These might be slightly more difficult than the previous questions) and a very special prize will be awarded to them by Alex Galetano. So we hope you've appreciated the ride, and a special Thank-you for your loyal support and positive feedback from our Valley's NASCAR fans!
#1 Dale Jarrett finally won the Winston Cup title in 1999. Who was the driver that preceded him in 1998 and who was the driver that succeeded in the year 2000? Oh, the driver that preceded Dale (not his team-mates or the car) had a nick-name. What was it? (I'll give you a hint. It had something to do with his age.)

#3 Following the 1999 Winston Cup Title, Dale did something in the 2000 season that still holds the record and has not been repeated by any other driver since. What is the event, and what makes it so special?
#4 In 2000, DJ won only 1 other race ( the first is part of the above question) that year for a total of 2. What was the race and where was it held, and in what place did he finish in the Cup standings?
#5 After the 2000 season, the sponsor of the #88 Ford that DJ drove for Robert Yates Racing left. Who became the new sponsor of RYR's #88 Ford?
#7 Dale's long-time crew chief departed from the #88 team in the same year. Who replaced him(It wasn't a very long time) and after how many races took place before his first crew-chief rejoined the #88 team?
#8 2001 was a good year and a bad year for DJ and the #88 team. He won how many races in the late spring( the good)? What was the bad? (for xtra credit name the races he won)
#9 As Dale Jarrett's career winded down, his wins became few and far between. In what year did DJ get his last career win and at what track did he get it at?( There was somethig else that made this win special. What was it?)
#10 In 2007, Dale Jarrett parted with the RYR team for another upstart team, just as he did so long ago with Joe Gibbs. His Sponsor that he had with Yates followed him to this new team. Who was the Owner/Driver of this team, and what did he do that made History for the NASCAR Nextel Series?
#11 In 2008, Dale Jarrett raced for the last time at Lowe's Motor Speedway at the All-Star race. Name all of DJ's Primary Car Sposors from 1988-2008.There are 6.( you may think it's hard, but just look a bit and you can find all 6)
For the final part of this Trivia contest about Dale Jarrett's career,Give his statistics from how many races he has run in 26 years, best cup position, 1st race, last race,(Not the all-star) first win, last win. Also his total wins, top fives, top tens and poles. Again, Thanks for playing and starting next week we'll get back to our weekly NASCAR race report! It seems that Kyle Busch remains atop the Cup standings after his 8th win last week at Watkins Glen. There's a very good chance that the Eliminator might go all the way if the other teams can't find a way to stop him!
