It’s that time of year again, for the Kern Valley Hospital Foundation to hold its annual Peddler’s Faire. The event, which is being held Sept. 19-20, a full month earlier than it has been in past years, promises something for everyone. With as many as a third of the vendors being new, as well as the addition of several different activities, there will be plenty for valley residents to enjoy. Organizer, Jeannette Rogers, is thrilled to have so many newcomers participating in the fall event that has become increasingly popular with locals.

The 50 plus vendors will include many of the valley’s health and service organizations, who will be eager to share information on all that they have to offer. A multitude of other vendors will be at their booths ready to showcase their unique talents, wares and services. Visitors can expect to see a wide variety of crafts, collectibles, memorabilia, clothing, art, baked goods and gourmet food items for sale.

This little pooch had the best seat in the house at last year’s Peddlers Faire. The event will be held at Family Life Center in Wofford Heights Sept. 19-20.

Faire attendees will also be able to enjoy a variety of free entertainment. Fashion shows are scheduled for both days of the event. The shows will feature clothing by Lore’s Loft and Nettie's Fine Line, as well as the relatively new children’s clothing store, Dress Me Up. The Sweet Adelines will be “singing for their supper” on Friday night. A dance performance will be given by the Tracie Whitman Dancers on Saturday morning. Children of all ages will enjoy the show “Flower Children,” by Lynn Trimble, a comic ventriloquist. Her unique show will also be held on Saturday morning.

Lunch will be available on both Friday and Saturday for $6.00. On Friday from 11:00-2:30; the Ladies Ministry Group of the Family Life Center will serve a fresh chicken salad lunch, with garlic bread and dessert, coffee and tea. Lunch on Saturday will be homemade chili and beans prepared by the young men of Camp Owen. It will come with a green salad, cornbread, a cookie dessert, coffee and tea. The KVH Foundation will put on an authentic Italian style dinner on Friday night from 4:30–6:30 p.m. The meal will consist of homemade manicotti and meatballs, salad, and traditional pizzelle cookies for dessert, coffee and tea, all for the low cost of $7.00. Early shoppers can take advantage of the always popular Saturday breakfast, which will be served from 8–10:30 a.m. Prepared by the men of KV Hospital Foundation, the cost is $6.00.

In addition to the many activities taking place inside the Family Life Center, youngsters from the local Kern River Valley Chapter of the Sheriff’s Activities League will be holding a car wash. For a nominal donation, you can have your vehicle thoroughly washed and vacuumed. The car wash will be held on the corner of Sycamore and Panorama, just off of the boulevard in Wofford Heights.

The Peddlers Faire is put on jointly by the Hospital Foundation and the KUSD Family Resource Center. The event takes place on Friday, Sept. 19, 11:30 a.m.- 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 20, 8:00 a.m. -3:30 p.m. and will be held in the Family Life Center gym. Admission is free.
