A two-car head-on collision near the intersection of Lake Isabella Blvd. and Chain Ave. in Lake Isabella on Aug. 6 sent a Wofford Heights woman to the hospital and left a Bodfish man with a bloody nose.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Robert Casaburi, 39, of Bodfish was driving a 1997 Jeep Wrangler southbound on Lake Isabella Blvd. at Chain Ave. At the same time, Carlene Pinette, 23, of Wofford Heights, was driving a 1989 Pontiac Bonneville northbound on Lake Isabella Blvd. just south of Chain Ave.

A head-on collision in Lake Isabella last Wednesday sent a Wofford Heights woman to the hospital.

Casaburi reportedly failed to negotiate a right hand curve in the roadway and drove across the northbound lane onto the east dirt shoulder. He then turned to the right and lost control of the Jeep, driving into the northbound lane directly into Pinette’s path. The result was a head-on collision that sent Pinette to Kern Valley Hospital with moderate injuries. Casaburi sustained moderate injury, but refused medical care.

A check of Kern County Superior Court records show that since March, 2005, Casaburi has been arrested and pled no contest to numerous charges, such as being under the influence of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, and DUI. Court records also indicate Casaburi is a registered narcotic offender.

The CHP news release reported there were no arrests.
