Kern Valley tried to get a full match in, but was denied by daylight.

Taking on McFarland at home, the Lady Broncs lost the match 9-6.

Head coach Brian Christianson said, “We started this match at 4 p.m. as the team came up with their volleyball team and we did not have enough light to finish the match.”

A few of the bright spots in the match came from the play of the Lady Broncs top two doubles teams.

Kayla Nevius and Christina Brown swept both their doubles sets over the Lady Cougars 6-0 and 6-0, while Chelsea Cormack and Haley Riise won both their doubles sets 7-6 (7-5 tiebreaker) and 6-1 in doubles play.

Other Kern Valley winners included Brianna Jones in singles 6-4, Sara Fraser in singles 6-4. Jones would drop her first set 3-6.

In other action Bethany Stanton lost both of her singles sets 3-6 and 6-7 (5-7 tiebreaker).

Kristie Edwards was defeated in both of her singles sets 2-6 and 1-6, while Katie Ruiz lost both of her singles sets 0-6 and 0-6. Nattikan Choorat lost her only singles set 1-6.

The doubles team of Fraser and Ashley Hampton were defeated in their lone set 1-6.

Christianson stated, “This was a good day for Kern Valley tennis. Obviously, a number of players got a lot of valuable playing experience.”
