Kern Valley clobbers Red Devils 35-0

The Broncs took control after a turnover and never looked back as they moved to 2-0 on the year with 35-0 win over Pomona.

On the Red Devils first possession an interception by Kern Valley set the stage for the easy pickings on offense.

It took the Broncs just eight plays to go 46 yards for the score. The drive was completed by Dakota Calude’ on a six yard plunge into the end zone.

Lawrence Frenes kicked the extra-point to put Kern Valley up quickly 7-0.

The Kern Valley defense stopped Pomona on their next possession and forced a punt.

Taking the ball on the Red Devils 31-yard line, Kern Valley used just seven plays to find the end zone once more.

Claude’ bounced in from two yards out and with Frenes’ PAT the Broncs enjoyed a 14-0 lead early in the second quarter.

After flip-flopping possessions on downs the Red Devils got the ball and were stuffed forcing another punt.

This time the Broncs broke through and blocked the punt and recovered in the end zone for their third touchdown of the game. The PAT was good and it was all over but the second half.

Kern Valley went into the half time break with a comfortable 21-0 margin.

The Broncs opened the second half and were forced into a punting situation. The Red Devils moved the ball, but bogged down and punted the ball back to the Broncs.

After a 25-yard toss from Robbie Fisher to Aylen Atkinson Kern Valley was set up at the Pomona 46-yard line. Claude’ raced the 46 yards for the score and added to the Broncs lead.

Austin Kennedy intercepted a Red Devils pass and the Broncs were in business once again.

With the reserves getting some playing time they did not waste the opportunity as they drove the ball 59 yards in 12 plays for the final score of the game. Kyle Cawein went 19 yards for the touchdown.

The defense allowed the Red Devils just 60 total yards of offense in the game. Kern Valley on the other hand had 276 total yards in the contest.

Claude’ was the leading rusher for the Broncs with 72 yards on nine carries.

Cawein finished with 34 yards on three rushes, while Cody Bulgarelli gained 31 yards on three carries.

Aaron LaFarga rushed for 22 yards on three touches, while Atkinson had 11 yards on five carries. Fisher closed out the running totals with eight yards on two rushes.

Fisher in the passing department was 5-of-8 for 57 yards. Doug Peaslee threw for four times and completed all four for 30 yards, while Kevin Gutierrez had two completions in two attempts for 10 yards.

Claude’ had three catches for 26 yards, Atkinson caught two passes for 25 yards, LaFarga hauled in four passes for 30 yards, Bugarelli had one catch for 11 yards and Cawein had one catch for five yards.
