McFarland takes match over Lady Broncs in three games

Thursday afternoon at home the Lady Broncs played the McFarland Lady Cougars in their first non-league match. The Lady Broncs fought hard to win, and were beaten barely by the cougars.

McFarland barely won the first game; the final score was 26-24. Coach Adam Vittoria mentioned that this first game was awesome, “the girls played really well together,” said Vittoria.

Kern Valley took the second game, with a win of 25-23, forcing them to play a third game and this is where McFarland took an early lead, but Vittoira said his girls battled back with Jamie Duran serving nine straight with three aces.

The final score of this well fought match was 16-14 for McFarland.

“McFarland is a competitive team, we should have won them, but we got a little over excited,” said Lady Broncs Breanna Register.

Vittoria said that for their first game he could not have asked for anything more from the girls. Vittoria reported that Katie Emery had a break through game in her hitting with a total of 15 kills for all three games, along with other kill leaders; Duran, Sierra Ure, and Register, and Morgan Eirich had an outstanding game in serving and setting.

“Thank you parents for your support, this will be an exciting season guarantee,” said Vittoria.

Stats are a combination of all three games; Duran 15 serves, five aces, 12 kills, 15 digs, and two assist, Eirich had 16 serves, three aces, one kill, one block, five digs, and a whopping 46 assist, Kayla Evans served once, she had one ace, three kills, and seven digs.

Register had ten serves, one ace, six kills, seven digs, one assist, Sierra Ure served five, she had ten kills and eight digs, Katy Emery served five, and had 14 kills, 11 digs, Allyson Borthick had seven assist, Stephanie Lopez had one kill, Deborah Riley two kills, Jessie Looy with one assist, and Sydney Scott had two serves, one ace.
