Broncs run winning streak to three after beating Boron 19-0

The junior varsity Broncs football team is rolling.

Kern Valley rolled over Boron on Friday 19-0 with a defensive showing that allowed the Bobcats just 78 total yards in the game.

Kern Valley’s Travis Gibson breaks into the clear past two would be tacklers in Friday’s game against the Boron Bobcats. Gibson’s teammate, Kurt Evans looks to throw a block if needed. The Broncs grabbed the win 19-0 to improve to 3-0 on the year.

Kern Valley’s offense had a total of 223 yards with 205 coming on the ground.

The Broncs would pound the ball over in the first quarter to begin the scoring. Dakota Claude’ romped for 53 yards to get the Broncs rolling.

Travis Gibson would score from nine yards out in the second quarter to give the Broncs the 13-0 lead. Which would also be the half time score.

Aaron LaFarga would cap the scoring for Kern Valley with a 19 yard touchdown scamper in the third quarter giving the Broncs the 19-0 margin and the final score.

Lawrence Frenes would make one of three PAT’s after the Broncs scored their touchdowns.

Boron’s offense rushed for 71 yards and threw for seven. Austin kennedy picked off one of the Bobcats pass attempts.

With the win the Broncs move to 3-0 on the season and have pitched consecutive shut outs. They have not allowed their opponents to score in the last nine quarters of action, while racking up 54 points in that same time frame.

The Broncs ground game was led by Claude’ with 164 yards on 15 carries. LaFarga picked up 82 yards on 10 rushes, while Gibson gained 28 yards on three carries.

Cody Bulgarelli rushed for 20 yards on five carries, while Kyle Cawein had seven yards on two rushes.

Robbie Fisher and Aylen Atkinson each carried the ball one time for two yards.

The Broncs attempted five passes in the game. Three Kern Valley quarterbacks threw in the game.

Fisher was 0-for-2 with one interception, while Kevin Gutierrez threw twice with one completion for six yards. Doug Peaslee went 1-for-1 for 12 yards.

Kyle Pope grabbed one catch for six yards, while Mike Donolly had the one reception for 12 yards.

Defensive stats were not made available.

The Kern Valley Broncs will take their three-game winning streak to Mammoth to take on the Huskies on Friday. The game kicks offs at 4 p.m.
