It was along day at home for the Lady Broncs in their match against the Lone Pine Lady Eagles.

Lone Pine swept three consecutive games by convincing scores to give them the match.

Denise Green of the Lady Broncs taps the ball over the net in the home match against Lone Pine on Sept. 23. The Lady Eagles swept Kern Valley in three straight games 25-15, 25-14 and 25-15.

It wasn’t for a lack of trying as Kern Valley hustled around the court in hopes of pulling out a win.

The Lady Broncs played a great match of defense against a tough Lone Pine squad, only to see their effort fail.

The scores of the games were 15-25, 14-25 and 15-25.

Holly Largent and Kayla bennett were the kill leaders for Kern Valley with three apiece.

Jamy Bulgarelli and Jessica Tyack each had two kills, while Denise Green was credited with one kill.

Tyack recorded three blocks at the net, while Largent had one block at the net.

Kelsie Robinson led the team in serving aces with two. Bennett, Kylie Onstott and Green each had one service ace.

Bennett was the leading digger for Kern Valley with eight digs, Megan Andrews recorded five digs, while Corinn Bedard had four digs.

Robinson had three digs, while Bulgarelli, Onstott, Green and Largent had two digs apiece.

Robinson and Onstott shared the lead in assists as they were credited two each.

Head coach Elizabeth Miller commenting on the match said, “The varsity squad worked hard during play, however, could not seem to get ahead of Lone Pine during the match. We had some excellent digging defense against their hitters.”

She would go on to say, “ We just have to keep focusing on working harder than our opponents and playing together as a team. Hopefully, we will get there by the time league play starts.”
