In a continuing struggle, the Lady Broncs varsity volleyball team can’t seem to catch a break.

Despite the effort, Kern Valley keeps coming up short in match games leading to their league losses.

Kayla Bennett of the Lady Broncs tries to deliver a kill in the match versus Frazier Mountain at home on Oct. 21. Kern Valley lost in three games to the visiting Lady Falcons.

Against the high-powered squad from Frazier Mountain, the Lady Broncs were hanging in the game, but eventually fell 19-25 in the first.

The second game was competitive only to see Kern Valley fall 18-25 and in the final game the Lady Falcons put the match away with a 25-12 victory.

In the match, Kern Valley was led by Denise Green and Shayne Villa with two kills each. Kayla Bennett, Jessica Tyack and Holly Largent were each credited with one kill.

Tyack record two blocks, while Bennett, Kelsie Robinson, Kylie Onstott and Largent each had one serving ace.

Bennett led the team in digs with four, followed by Megan Andrews and Corinn Bedard with three digs apiece.

Head coach Elizabeth Miller stated, “Our toughest match of the season may very well have been against Frazier Mountain. They had some talented players that could hit and serve consistently hard and I feel that we stepped up with aggressive digging and passing in the back row. We were able to attack the ball often, however, their defense picked up most of what we gave them. Hopefully, we can use each game experience to learn and grow in order to finish the season off strong.”

In a non-league match versus Mojave, the trend continued for Kern Valley as they fell in three games 25-27, 13-25 and 18-25.

Four players shared the team lead in kills with two apiece. Green, Tyack, Largent and Villa were the kills leaders.

Bedard, Andrews and Onstott were credited with one serving ace each, while Robinson and Onstott each had two assists in the match.

Tyack led the team in blocks with two, while Erin Quick and Villa each had one block.

Green recorded five digs to lead the Lady Broncs. Largent and Bedard each had four, while Andrews had three digs. Robinson had two digs.
