Off to a great start were Sierra Hazard, Jessica Tyack and Jenna Criswell and Criswell nursing an old injury to her ankle came on strong the last ½ mile and took first place.

Coach Hazard mentioned Criswell had an incredible race and Kern Valley’s first and second place score really helped Kern Valley with the win. Criswell came in with the time of 23:58 and Sierra Hazard at 24:03.

Tyack finished in fifth place at 25:16, Debbie Byrket finished in seventh place at 26:23 and Shelby Hinkey continues to improve and finished in ninth place at 28:06 to round out Kern Valley’s top five.

Kayla Lawhon finished in 11th place at 31:42 and Chelsea Stamps finished 13th at 34:41. The final score was 24-31.

“We are tied for first place and if the girl’s run like they did Wednesday we will have an excellent chance to win a league championship,” coach Hazard said.

The boy’s team continue to improve and bring down their personal times. Jake Hodge had a great race and finished in sixth place with a time of 21:36.

“He’s working hard to try and qualify for his varsity letter,” Hazard said.

Although Chris Woodward was not feeling well, he did start the race in first and ran a good race; he would finish in ninth place at 21:56, while Joey Pistocco came in 18th place at 26:51 and Sam Nang finished in 19th place at 26:54.
