It hasn’t been a good season for the Kern Valley varsity volleyball team.

They continue to struggle in league play as they dropped two matches to Bishop and Desert this past week.

At home on Oct. 28 they took on the Lady Scorpions of Desert. The match lasted only three games as Desert swept the Lady Broncs 25-14, 25-17 and 25-21.

Holly Largent led the team in kills with three. Kayla Bennett and Denise Green each had two kills, while Jessica Tyack had one kill in the match. Tyack recorded four blocks at the net.

Green led the team in digs with six. Jamy Bulgarelli, Erin Quick and Largent each had two digs. Robinson was the team leader in assists with eight.

Two days later Kern Valley traveled to Bishop to take on the Lady Broncos.

They got off to a good start winning game one 18-25, but Bishop stormed back and took the next three games 25-21, 25-17 and 29-27 to win.

Largent and Tyack each had four kills to lead the squad.

Bennett, Green and Quick each had two kills, while Robinson had one.

Robinson recorded 10 assists and had two digs. Largent recorded two blocks and three digs, while Green had four digs.

Head coach Elizabeth Miler stated, “I was impressed with the way our team played against Bishop on their home turf after a long bus ride. The girls came out strong to win the first game and then the following games were very competitive; however, we couldn’t pull through on top. Game four was very exciting because Kern Valley was aggressive on both offensive and defensive. We have one more week left of our season and we want to get a league win, as well as play tough and have fun.”
