Kern Valley’s boys cross country team competed at the High Desert League Finals on Nov. 5 at Vasquez.

Despite running short handed all season, the Broncs runners were able to focus on improving their personal best times.

Chris Woodward had a great race and qualified for his varsity letter. Woodward finished in 24th place with the exact time required to qualify for a varsity letter, 20:15 and set a personal record.

“Woodward enjoyed his cross country experience as a senior but wishes he would of ran all four years,” Hazard said.

Sam Nang set a personal record and finished in 30th place at 22:23 and Joey Pistocco also set a personal record and finished in 33rd place at 23:26.

“It was a real pleasure coaching the boy’s this year. They learned a lot about toughing it out and doing their best. I wish my seniors all the best next year,” Hazard said.

For the HDL boys teams, Desert took home the title, while Rosamond placed second. Vasquez was third, Bishop fourth, Kern Valley fifth, and Frazier Mountain held up the rest of the league as they finished in sixth place.

“The boy’s team will be really good next year,” said Hazard.
