Kern Valley loses grip on first place

On Nov. 4, the Kern Valley jayvee volleyball team played Rosamond where they really needed a win to secure first place in league.

The Lady Broncs came close to winning their first game, but took a loss in a fierce battle. The final score favored Rosamond 29- 27.

In the second game, the Lady Broncs took control on the court, and went on to win 25-14 to tie the match at one game apiece.

In the third game Kern Valley lost the match as Rosamond picked up the game victory 15-12.

The Lady Broncs still have a chance to tie Rosamond for first place if they were able to beat Frazier Mountain on Nov. 6. Results of that match were not made available.

Head coach Adam Vittoria said, “It has been one heck of a season, and the girls gave it a great try, barely losing out in game three.”

The stats for the match include, Breanna Register serving 13 times, with fives aces, she had one kill, two digs, and five assists. Jaime Duran served 14 times with four aces, and an 44 assists. Kayla Evans served twice, had four digs, and collected seven kills.

Jessie Looy served three times and had one kill, while Katy Emery had two digs and two kills. Abbey Stanton served eight times, had five digs, while Morgan Eirich served nine times, had one kill and one dig. Sierra Ure had five kills for the Lady Broncs.

On Oct. 30 the Lady Broncs played away in Bishop. Against the Bishop Lady Broncos, Kern Valley and won both games. 25-17 and 25-22.

Duran served 12 with two aces, two digs and 28 assists, Evans served four with one ace, two digs, and Register served six with two aces, two kills, and one dig. Looy served five times with one ace, one dig, Deborah Riley had one dig, Emery had four digs, Stanton served eight with two aces, one dig, Eirich served seven with one ace, two kills and one dig.
