All Carl Edwards had to do on Sunday was to stay ahead of Jimmie. Check. He had to lead the most laps . Check. Jimmie had to finnish 36th or better. Two out of three ain't bad! It took the series final race to determine the winner of the 2008 Sprint Car NASCAR championship of the 2008 season by the slightest of margins, 69 points. When the checkered flag waved furiously, Carl Edwards had won the race. A sort of token gift given to the bridesmaid and not the Bride. It happened to Carl at Saturday's Nationwide race as well. He won the race but DEI's Clint Boywer recieved the Nationwide Cup Championship title again by an even smaller margin of points. A Bittersweet memory to a great season.

Team Johnson is the 2nd team to win three titles in a row. Cale Yarborough has held that distinction for 30 years. Chad Knaus, Johnson's crewchief since Jimmie started his rookie year in 2002,said."We think with the team that we've got.... we can definitely go and bid for four championships in a row. Why would'nt we?"Bakersfield's Kevin Harvick finished a respectable 4th in Cup points. He will get to join the other top 10 drivers on the Dias in New York City for the awards banquet. Matt Kenseth,11th, and Dale Earnhardt Jr,12th didn't make the cut.

Next week the winner of the Dale Jarrett trivia Contest will be announced!
