Deputies from the Kern Valley Sheriff’s Substation made a routine traffic stop early Sunday morning and determined the driver, Billy Largent, 52, of Lake Isabella, to be under the influence of a controlled substance and in possession of drug paraphernalia.

During a subsequent search of the vehicle, deputies found approximately 10 grams of methamphetamine, worth an estimated $1,000, as well as packaging material, hidden in an aerosol container with a false bottom, according to Sgt. Jason Balasis. Cash in the amount of $1,693 was seized from Bobbi Baker, 52, the passenger of the vehicle, Balasis said. Both Largent and Baker were arrested and booked into the Kern County Jail for violations of HS 11379(a), transportation of a controlled substance and HS 11378, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of sales. Largent was also charged with violations of VC 24601, illegal license plate lamp, HS 11550(a), under the influence of a controlled substance, and HS 11364, possession of drug paraphernalia.

County records indicate Largent is current in custody, held on $34,000 bail, with his appearance in court scheduled for Nov. 18. At presstime, no further information about Baker was available.
