Glad to be of service
Re: Word of mouth best advertising, Letters, 2/11/09

Last week I read a letter from a former Kern Valley resident. In her letter she mentioned the lack of quality service she had received when she requested flowers be sent to our cemetery. She also mentioned she was referred to a different service provider and was pleased to see that friendly service is still alive and well in the Kern River Valley. I am pleased we were able to provide her, from a distance, the service she desired for her loved one. We are a small community and rely on friendly, quality service to keep the Valley in business.

Thank you to all who braved the elements and supported the Whiskey Flat Days.

" Since Petal Pusher's name was edited out of the original letter, it was totally appropriate for Lucian to let everyone know it was his business that bent over backwards to help out this customer. "

" Lucian, why did you find it necessary to follow up with a letter telling everyone it was you? Word of mouth wasn't good enough...you have to toot your own horn? Too much ego for me. I'll shop with the underdog. "

" Thank you Lucian, you always have been and still are.....a "class act." Sometimes people new to this area do not recognize that phrase....poor pitiful people. We may be a small community but we who have been here long term, do recognize service...given freely and with "grace" and a smile! Thanks for your long term and great service. "

" I am curious why the newspaper seems to feel the need to edit the names used in these letters. I did mention the Pedal Pusher by name in my letter, but the newspaper deleted it. I was careful not to mention the other florist that I had done business with for 30 years. In all fairness I think this wonderful lady deserves a pat on the back, and people need to know she will go out of her way for your satisfaction...no matter WHERE you live! Thanks again Pedal Pusher!
