California Highway Patrol:

SUSPICION OF DUI: On 2-21-09, Christopher Scott Whitley of Wofford Heights was observed driving 79 mph in a 50 mph zone. An enforcement stop was made and the subsequent investigation led to Whitley’s arrest for driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. (Note: Whitley was incorrectly identified as Christopher Scott Whirley. The Sun regrets the error.)

SUSPICION OF DUI: On 2-27-09, Kyle Minor Smith, of Kernville, was contacted after he was involved in a hit and run traffic collision. The subsequent investigation led to Smith’s arrest for driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage, hit and run.

SUSPICION OF DUI: On 2-27-09, Matthew Perry, 20, of Lake isabella, was stopped for matching the description of a vehicle reportedly being driven by an underage drinker. The subsequent investigation led to Perry’s arrest for DUI.

Sheriff’s Department: At presstime Tuesday, no reports were received from the Kern Valley Sheriff substation.

Disposition of case: As required by the provisions of Penal Code Section 851.6 (as amended by Stats. 1975, Ch. 1117) it is certified that the taking into custody of Eric Shane Young on 2/12/09, by the Sheriff’s Office was a detention only, not an arrest. Eric Shane Young was released on 2/17/09 by the Sheriff Central Receiving Facility-Kern County, pursuant to the provisions of Paragraph 1 of Subdivision B of Penal Code Section 849/Paragraph 3 of Subdivision B of Penal Code Section 849/Penal Code Section 849.5, pertinent portions of which appear on this certificate.
