Kindergartners from Kernville and Wallace Elementary Schools galloped to Jake’s Place in Kernville on Friday, March 13 for the annual stick horse rodeo.

The event has delighted kids, parents and teachers alike for more than 10 years and has become a kindergarten tradition.

To prepare for the rodeo event, teachers spent the week helping students craft their own stick-horses and teaching them about farm animals, cowboys and cowgirls.

The kindergartners, some donning cowboys hats and cowboy boots, enjoyed the chance to try out the many rodeo events offered, including bull riding (using barrels in place of actual bulls of course); lasso techniques using Hula Hoops, ropes and cones; boot races, and stick-horse barrel racing.
