The 2009 Isabella Lake Fishing Derby only a little more than a month away. Current registration is significantly higher (1,100) than this time last year, and preparations are well under way. The first load of “Trophy Trout” was delivered on Tuesday, Feb. 24 and deposited into the lake. The over 1,200 pounds of beautiful Alpers Trout were delivered to the lake by the Inland Aquaculture Group.

Alpers Trout aren’t just any fish. These trout average 2 to 3 pounds and are prized trophies sought by anglers from all over. They are going to be a great addition to the 13,000 fish still being raised for the derby.

" Rules are for a reason...did you not read "Current registration is significantly higher (1,100) than this time last year" "

" We have attended the 18 consecutive years andhave made a lot a friends through the years. Now we have an extended "Derby Family". We are all out-of-towners, some of us travel 300 miles, we all go up the same time and place our trailers together so that we can all be together. Speaking for just MY family, we spend approximately $1000.00 in your community during the two weeks prior. The rules you are imposing this year for trailers stink! We are rethinking our vacation spot for next year. You should grow your particpants, not deter them! "
