On Monday a jury acquitted James Rudolph Crook, 47, of Clovis, a carnival worker at the 2008 Whiskey Flat Days celebration in Kernville, of two felony charges of lewd and lascivious acts with a child. He was arrested in February, 2008, after allegedly grabbing an 11-year-old girl, who deputies said feared Crook would take her inside a ticket booth. The young girl broke free.
Crook had a prior conviction of child molest, kidnapping and false imprisonment, and is a registered sex offender. He had been held in Lerdo Jail under a $1 million bail.
