Marijuana bust in mountains south of Havilah

On June 29, at about 6:00 a.m., deputies from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Major Violators Unit and Special Operations Group, with assistance of officers from the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA), Campaign Against Marijuana Planting (C.A.M.P.), and the Department of Fish and Game located five marijuana grows on Federal land in a remote area south of Havilah.

Due to the rough terrain and remoteness of the area, the officers were transported into the area by helicopter and the plants were carried out by helicopter to the command post. No suspects were located during the operation. Officers located three camp sites within the grows containing fertilizers and other materials used to maintain the marijuana. The camps were dismantled, and the items were removed from the area. Approximately 15,310 mature marijuana plants with an estimated street value of $61,240,000 were eradicated from the area.
