The Pounders slip past the Wrecking Crew 13-12

In the Battle-of-the-Week for co-ed softball, the Wrecking Crew squad escaped with the one-run win over the Pounders.

The Wrecking Crew started off by scoring three times in the top of the first, but the Pounders answered with three of their own in their half of the first.

The Wrecking Crew added one run in the second inning to go up 4-3, but the Pounders responded by plating a pair of runs to jump out in front 5-4.

In the bottom of the third, the Pounders sent seven batters to the plate and produced four runs to increase the margin to 9-4.

In the top of the fourth, the Wrecking Crew got together and scored five times to tie the game up 9-9.

Once again the Pounders would answer with a pair of runs to regain the lead 11-9.

In the fifth, the Wrecking Crew team put another rally together and went ahead 12-11, but it was the Pounders night as they came back to score twice in the bottom of the fifth to go up 13-12.

The Wrecking Crew had the tying run at third base, but a ground out ended the threat and gave the win to the Pounders.

Leading the way for the Pounders was Dan Stewart with three hits and an RBI.

Justin Miller, Andy Gannick and Paul Quinn each collected two hits and an RBI, while Tammy Stewart had a pair of hits. John Funk had one hit and drove in two runs, while Mary Whitfield had one hit and one RBI. Teri Ritchison had one hit to close out the offense for the Pounders.

The Wrecking Crew was led by Teddy Bolt with two hits and an RBI. Larry Barton had two hits, while Brian had one hit and two RBIs. Aaron Nelson delivered one hit and an RBI, while Helen Jost, Pablo Anzaldo, Jaclyn Barton, Colleen, Chrysta Pera and Ramon Anzaldo each had one hit.
