Two missing hikers return home safely
Joe Collins and John Gaetz, cities unknown, were reported missing by their families to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday, about 5:00 p.m. The men were last seen about 9:00 a.m., Sunday, when they left for a nature hike and to explore caves in the Claraville area.

SCE proposes improvements to Kern River No. 1 and Borel Canal Hydroelectric Facilities
The Sequoia National Forest is in the process of reviewing proposals submitted by Southern California Edison to make improvements at three locations along the Borel Canal and plans for reconstruction of three sites located at the Kern River No. 1 (KR1) facility located off Highway 178 in the Lower Kern Canyon.

Suspect in most recent pot bust arrested
In the early morning hours of Aug. 14, deputies assigned to the Kern County Sheriff's Department Major Violators Unit served a search warrant on U.S Forest property located at Sycamore Canyon, approximately 13 miles west of Lake Isabella, according to Michael Bonsness of the Kern County Sheriff's Office.
