California Highway Patrol:

SUSPICION OF DUI: On 8/15/09, Leta Jo Winchester, 66, of Wofford Heights, was observed driving southbound on Lake Isabella Blvd. at Turner Ave., weaving repeatedly. An enforcement stop was made and the subsequent investigation head to her arrest on suspicion of DUI.

REPORT OF COLLISON: On 8/16/09, John C. Lindbeck, 62, of Yorba Linda, was driving his 2002 Kawasaki motorcycle southbound on Sierra Way at Hanning Flat. Lindbeck was behind a slow moving motor home and accelerated to approximately 55 mph in order to pass the motor home. For unknown reasons the motorcycle began to fishtail. Lindbeck attempted to slow down and regain control of his vehicle, however, he made an unsafe turning movement to the right, losing control of the motorcycle and causing it to fall over onto its right side. Lindbeck sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Kern Valley Hospital.

SUSPICION OF DUI: On 8/17/09, Caleb Walker, 31, of Harrison, Ark., was driving a 2005 Toyota pick-up truck eastbound on Old Kern Canyon Rd., attempting to locate Remington Hot Springs, and traveling at an unknown rate of speed. As he was negotiating a right hand curve, Walker allowed his vehicle to drift to the left and drove off the north roadway edge. The vehicle overturned down a steep embankment, ejecting the right front passenger. Walker showed signs of being under the influence and was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI. Walker was transported to Kern Valley Hospital, then Central Receiving Center in Bakersfield. Walker’s passengers, Ashley Koenig, 23, of Irvine, and an unidentified 24-year-old male from Santa Cruz were not injured.

    " The initial report we received from the CHP did not indicate that. However, after reading Kim's comment, we checked with CHP and she is correct. The Sun regrets the error. "
