Friends of KRV libraries opens used book store in Mt. Mesa
The Friends of the KRV libraries has opened a used book store at 12232 Hwy. 178, Mt. Mesa, in the former Century 21 Real Estate building. The new store, with an all volunteer staff, will be open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

SAL shows appreciation to Car Show coordinator
The Kern Valley Sheriff’s Activities League presented a plaque to Buddy Teafatiller on Wednesday Aug. 19. Teafatiller, second from right, coordinated the 1st Annual Lake Isabella Classic Car Show and donated all proceeds, nearly $3,000, to the KV SAL. Upon receipt of the plaque Teafatiller was nearly speechless. “That’s nice, that’s really nice... thank you,” said Teafatiller. Attorney General files criminal charges against Pam Ott, former healthcare district CEO
Attorney General Edmund G. Brown Jr. announced that former Kern Valley Hospital administrator Pamela Ott was charged on eight felony counts of elder abuse today, Sept. 8. The complaint charges Ott allowed staff to forcibly administer psychotropic medications to patients for their own convenience, rather than for their patients' therapeutic interests. These actions are alleged to have resulted in the deaths of three nursing home residents.

Directed Patrol Operation in the Kern River Valley by the Kern County Sheriff’s Office
Kern County Sheriff Sgt. Dean Marshall announced Tuesday that as part of the Kern County Sheriff’s ongoing community policing efforts, the Kern Valley Substation will be addressing concerns from business owners and citizens regarding skateboard riders, bicycle riders, and congregations of juveniles and young adults in the various business districts within the Kern River Valley.
