The Kern Valley Freedom Festival, in Kernville Oct. 24-25, has launched a new project called “Freedom to Read.” Organizers are collecting books “to be recycled into the community” and sold at the festival for very nominal cost. Books can be dropped off at collection boxes located at The Reel Cinema in Wofford Heights, Sienna Wellness Institute in Mt. Mesa, Kern Valley Sun in Lake Isabella, and Jenny Hanley’s home at 601 Burlando Rd., Kernville. Call Jacqueline Morgan at (760) 376-3940 for pick up from any community in the Valley. For more information contact Barbara Likens at (760) 376-4333 or via email at blikens218@aol.com
