The Boosters of Wallace Middle School wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Kern Valley Sun, for their generosity towards the science experience of Camp KEEP. Thanks to your willingness to house a bucket of donations, the current 6th grade class at Wallace Middle School will be attending Camp Cambria from December 7 to December 11, 2009.

We also wish you to be aware that the Wallace school administration and parents are working hard to create a sustainable plan so that all future classes will be able to participate in this long standing science tradition of attending Camp KEEP as part of the 6th grade academic curriculum.

Again, we express our gratitude for your support to the education of Wallace Middle School children through science education.

Wallace Middle School Booster Club

This letter is a public “thank you” to all of the community members that have supported my hands-on science program. Tom Moore has donated wetsuits for the past two years to my eighth grade students to use during the “Float Your Boat” competition so that they will not get cold in the pool. The South Fork School district has let us borrow the swimming pool so that my students could test their boats for buoyant force. Thank you Tom Moore, and Sherry Nichols for your continued support. Thank you to the many parents who came and cheered on the boat races, I appreciate your enthusiasm for science.

A big thank you also needs to be given to the freshman class at Kern Valley High School that graduated from Woodrow Wallace Middle School. Your CST results for Physical Science rank number one in Kern County. There are over 53 middle school in Kern County, and you have the highest scores with 79 percent advanced or proficient. Congratulations to South Fork Middle School who was second in the county with 73 percent advanced or proficient. The high school is lucky to have such a high achieving freshman class.

" I am very glad to hear that they where able to pull off Camp KEEP for yet another year. It was a vital experience for me as a child, and it's something that no kid should miss out on. I hope to see more fundraisers in the future. "
