Judi McCarthy, Chairwoman of the Kern Community Foundation’s Board of Directors, announced Monday, “By mutual agreement between the CEO and the Board of Directors, the Kern Community Foundation is replacing Fred Drew as the Foundation’s President and CEO, effective Oct. 31.”

The Foundation Board recognizes Mr. Drew’s capabilities and appreciates his many contributions to the community, McCarthy said. “This change in leadership occurs as the Foundation completes a strategic planning process and clarifies its vision and priorities for serving the community. This organizational direction translates into leadership criteria that will be used by the Board in its selection of a new President and CEO.”

The Kern Community Foundation’s Board of Directors is managing the leadership transition. Retired CEO Noel Daniells has been engaged by the Board to offer continued guidance and assistance to the Foundation. McCarthy will serve as acting executive until a new CEO is in place.

The Kern Community Foundation was established in 1999 to promote philanthropy, provide services to donors, and assist nonprofits in their work serving Kern County. In ten years, the Foundation has granted more than $5 million to the community.
