In a rescheduled match against Mammoth, Kern Valley managed just five team points in losing 13-5.

Abby Stanton of the lady Broncs tennis team is all concentration as she prepares to return a shot in the match versus Desert on Oct. 22. Kern Valley lost the match to the lady Scorpions 13-5.

Kern Valley singles player, Chelsea Cormack collected two team points as she won two of her three sets 7-5. 7-5 and 3-6.

The final team point came from the doubles team of sisters, Bethany and Abbey Stanton who won one set 6-3. They lost the other two sets 1-6 and 1-6.

In other play, Linda Hernandez lost all three sets 0-6, 1-6 and 2-6, while the doubles team of Ashley Hampton and Charlotte Padgett were downed 1-6. 3-6 and 3-6.

Head coach Brian Christianson said, “It is usually very difficult for us to play in Mammoth, but we did a good job of competing today. I was very pleased with the improvement that the team showed today.”

It was deja vu’ all over again the following day when Kern Valley took on Desert at home. They would lose by the same score 13-5 and the same players would earn the same exact team points as the day before.

Cormack won two sets 6-3 and 6-1, while dropping one set 0-6. Edwards won one set 6-2 and lost two sets 0-6 and 1-6, while the doubles team of Riise and Brown won one set 6-2 and lost two sets 2-6 and 5-7.

And finally sister act II (the Stanton’s) won one set 6-3, while losing 1-6 and 4-6.

Other action saw singles player Hernandez lose all three sets 0-6, 2-6 and 5-7, while the doubles team of Hampton and Padgett lost all three of their sets 1-6, 2-6 and 1-6.
