The Kern Valley boys and girls cross country teams traveled on Friday to participate in the largest invitational meet in the world. Running in the Mt. Sac Invitational, where over 20,000 athletes from numerous states come together to compete against each other.
For Kern Valley in the varsity boy’s race, Ignacio Anzaldo ran to 22nd place in a time of 18:18 to top the Broncs runners. Jose Lopez came in 77th place at 20:20, Troy Hazard came in 123rd at 22:18, Josh Tyrrell finished in 124th place at 22:26, and Luis Peralta came in 135th place at 23:36.

In the freshman race Chris Connolly finished in 116th place at 27:38. In the sophomore race, Tanner Cargile finished in 86th place at 22:32 and Brett Sorrells finished in 167th place at 28:45.
On the ladies side of the race, Kern Valley saw limited runners as the team was hampered by injuries.
Three of Kern Valley’s runners had to stop due to an injury.
“Jenna Criswell, Emily Beckstead and Sidney Adams all pulled out of the race with injuries,” Hazard said.
In the varsity girl’s race Kayla Lawhon finished in 98th place in a time of 27:01 to lead the lady Broncs runners. Ashley Diangelo came in 132nd place at 28:56.
In the sophomore girl’s race Katelyn Wallace finished in 45th place at 27:01 and Carla Morrison finished in 112th place at 29:30.
