The Sophomore Broncs easily handled the High Desert Patriots this past Saturday winning 38-6. The win keeps the Broncs unbeaten at 8-0.

Offensively the Broncs were lead by Shane Hawk and Austin Hurley’s two touchdowns each. Hawk carried the ball two times resulting in touchdowns runs of 43 and nine yards. Hurley carried the ball 10 times for 56 yards, with touchdown runs of three and eight yards.

Much to the delight of one of his coaches, Keaton Kissack of the Sophomore Broncs breaks away from a tackler.

The balance of the Broncs scoring came on a 47 yard interception return by Keaton Kissack and a 37 yard touchdown run by Zach Bushling. Bushling ended the game with four carries for 69 yards and Kissack had two carries for 43 yards.

Sammie Adams lead the Broncs on defense with nine tackles. Hurley (7), Adam Carter and Dakota Harbuck (5), Chase Mullen, Charles Gholson, Jared Onstott and Marty McIrvin (4), Robert Mental, Darrel Riley, and Ryan Armstrong (3).

Freshman Broncs

Ed Miller

The freshman Broncs faced off with a tough 7-0 High Desert team this past Saturday. The Broncs played tough but were unable to earn the win

The first half was a good battle, but turnovers plagued Kern Valley and kept us out of the end zone.

Ed Miller said, “The team will chalk this up as a tough lesson, regroup, and then use what they have learned against Bishop this weekend.”

The leading tackler on the team was Jacob Lightner with seven tackles. Colby Ritchison had five tackles and 25 yards on seven carries, while Jordan Jost and Tyler Simunovich each and four tackles. Anthony Barton, Trevor Hurley and Conrad Miller had three tackles each, while Kyle Vanderford, Andrew Sweiringa and Zac Sietsma were credited with one tackle each.
