Head Coach Ben Goffinet said, “This week we became only the fifth varsity football team in Kern Valley history to win a HDL championship. I thought that we played well in most facets of the game, but we need to cut down on penalties. I can’t say enough about how proud I am to coach this group of young men. I urge everyone to come out to a game to see them play, It’s well worth the trip.”
With this game in the books, the Broncs will now look forward to Thursday’s game with Frazier Mountain on the Falcons home field.
This has been a tough place for the Broncs to get a win. They are currently 0-4 at Frazier Mountain.
This will mark the 11th time the two teams have met. The series with the Falcons is all tied up as each team has five wins.
Kern Valley is also on a two-game win streak against the Falcons as they won last season 10-7 and 37-13 the year before. Both games were played on Kern Valley’s field.
Goffinet is 3-1 when his team plays Frazier Mountain.
Whichever way the winds blow on Thursday, Kern Valley’s season has been one heck of a ride. The game on Thursday will start at 7 p.m.
