" Shouldn't the article have said "something to DO with Halloween ?" Please read your articles before printing them. Thank You Denise "

" Doubtful, when there actually was a rapist a few years back, it was taken very seriously, and the guy was caught and sent to jail. I'm sure if there was any real crime being committed(and it was actually being reported) they'd take it as seriously now as they did then. "

" As soon as I heard the rumor about the rapes I laughed. I was soon horrified to learn that everyone in the valley had heard about it. What scared me? That I live in a town where one person could start a rumor, as bad as this one, and everyone would panic. When did the IQ level of the population get so low? I had an inkling when I noticed people believing things that their friends forward to them in their emails, but now I'm just astounded at how little people use their brains these days. "

" I really thought all this was a joke and still hope it is. Hopefully no women have been violated or in harm's way. Hopefully it is a rumor gone rampant. If not, shame on the community for not alerting our women. "

" Good Grief. I'm pretty sure if people had been getting raped and killed left and right we'd have heard about it through something more credible than the local rumor mill. Let's all stop hyperventilating and take a deep breath, shall we? "

" Well I have seen Fox 58 and 17 news up here! I have also heard on the radio that there is no evidence to any of these rumors! Check it out you will see. That pic that is going around via text and net is a fake. The sheriffs have no clue who it is. Lets just be careful but there is no evidence to this stuff that is going around "

" Everyone who reads this needs to call channel 23 and ask for an investigation. They promise to "look into" anything you report. But hope the Sun gets some info soon. Not fair to not warn women of LI "

" Yes, you can count on the Sun to continue digging. "

" What is going on?! Why havent we heard the truth on this issue?! Shouldnt we know what is going on if things are going on like this in our own back yards! How do we know what to do if we dont know the truth if this is really happening or if it is really just rumors gone wild?! I dont know the truth and till I know for sure I will keep seeking it!!!! "

" So does this mean we can count on The Sun to keep digging? Our local law enforcement needs to know that the public is scared. We NEED facts. If all of this is true (and I've heard that it is true by some pretty convincing sources) then people need to be warned. "

Editor wrote on Nov 1, 2009 4:17 PM:

" The Sun has bits & pieces of information - from phone calls by concerned residents and we have talked to law enforcement at the KV substation. Unfortunately, at this point there is little, if any, fact-based information to report.
Law enforcement, as expected, cites the 'ongoing investigation' and is reluctant to talk specifics.
Most callers to the Sun acknowledge their source is 'the local rumor factory' (this does NOT mean they aren't true); they want clarification. So do we.
