Forest Service asks for comments on rehabilitation work proposed for Upper Kern River Canyon
The Forest Service is asking for public comments on a proposal to conduct rehabilitation work at several designated dispersed recreation areas along the Upper Kern Wild and Scenic River corridor. The areas include Halfway, Thunderbird, Chico Flat, Corral Creek, Springhill, Old Goldledge, Ant Canyon, Chamise Flat, and Calkins Flat. These sites are located between the Kern River and adjacent State Mountain 99, north of Kernville. This work is needed to reestablish the ecological resilience and sustainability of the river corridor, to protect Wild and Scenic River values, and to implement travel management decisions.
