In a match that would decide the HDL team champion Kern Valley came out strong and took the dual 51-30. The weight order started like the old days where 103 is first and you end at Heavyweight. At 103, Kern Valley's John Smith took a forfiet. The 112 Desert recieved a forfiet to even the team schore at six a piece. There were 12 consecutive matches. Weston Williams won his match by decision to give Kern Valley the lead 9-6. Jordan Lacher 125, John Stevens 130, and Nick Medlin 135 would pin their Desert opponent to give Kern Valley a 27-6 lead. Kyel Smith 140, and Matt Henderson 145, fell by pin to their Scorpion opponent. Ben Foster 152, came out strong and swung the momentum back to Kern Valley as he pinned his man. Kurt Evans 160, was dominating his opponent but was called on a questionable technical violation that caused him to be disqualified. Eli Kamisher 171, was able to pin his man. The team score at this point was 39-24 with three bouts left. Robert Ochoa 189, was pinned to bring the score to 39-30 with two men left. Ed Rich 215, came out strong and collected the fastest pin this year, nine seconds, to seal the team victory for the Broncs. Sundy Scott came out and fought to get the pin and get Kern Valley to the final score of 51-30.

“It was a great showing for us and a great dual against Desert. We came out strong and were able to keep momentum on our side. It was great for the kids to come out and get the HDL title the first since 2003. I just want to thank my assistant coaches Jim Kyler and Frank, they are a huge reason for our teams success,” said Coach Wes Woody.

The team will travel to Bishop for individual HDL titles on Wednesday. This Saturday the team will travel to Sierra Vista High School for Team CIF and Chapparel High School next Friday and Saturday the 19th and 20th for individual CIF.
