Hospital staff thanks

Published on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 10:18 PM PST

I recently required an operation to correct an abdominal hernia. Having had this procedure in the past, I was not looking forward to this corrective surgery. A friend of mine had the procedure done here in the valley at our Kern Valley Hospital and suggested I have it done there. He told me it was almost painless and he was up and about the next day. I found this surprising as my prior surgery left me bedridden for three weeks. He went on to say the surgeon and staff were excellent and that with the specialized (laparoscopic) procedure I would not experience the discomfort I had in the past.

I took his advice and found the experience exactly as promised. The surgeon Dr. Kent Skogerson, and the staff, Renae, Gale, JoAnn, and Aster provided the best hospital care I have ever experienced.

For those who don’t think we need or have capable and much needed care system here in the valley, I strongly suggest you visit and meet these outstanding health care professionals.  Thanks again to the above mentioned folks for taking such good care of me.

" Show me once where I have ever demanded that anyone say who they are? It is not my fault that, through your own carelessness and bragging about your accomplishments, you have revealed your own identity. As far as the slandering public officials and brothers keeper thing, I'm really too tired to try to keep up with your scattered thought process so...whatever. "

" Mac......"button it! I don't know who you are, you want others to reveal who they are, but you refuse to do what you demand of others. You say you are sympathic to "gays"---you encourage others to slander public officials, and you do all these things while "worrying others" who do the same thing...tell me, "are you your Brothers Keeper?!" "

" Barbara, you are welcome to think what you like. Anybody with reading comprehension can see how you go out of your way to bash certain doctors and the board that went on without you. It's not rocket science. "

" Maybe Mac and spouse BOTH work for the hospital district. Perhaps Board? Fellow drs? Been wondering 'bout that. "

" Mac, it is obvious you either work at the hospital or are married to someone who does, your posts are "snarly" with people who know the truth, but so much of the truth of matters regarding the hospital is not posted challenging your "know it all attitude." So, here, you are now the authority regarding this topic, let it be your fault if the public is gravely mis-informed! (tongue in cheek) You will account for it later-trust me! "

" So in other words, "Knowledge" you changed the subject to once again bash the Board that you are no longer serving on. You'd think the taste of sour grapes would die away at some point. "

" To Knowledge / Truth: Another incoherent posting. Kudos. Glad you are in the "know". "

" I am sorry your interpretation led you to believe what you said, not what the sentence meant. And as I said, sometimes it is hard to explain to liberals so they can understand what is evident. I doubt the letter editor thought I was admonishing him/her. Another clue to what I said is the raise has to come from the Board of Trustees suggested by the CEO. There was no mention by the author of CEO or Board, that ball was in my court. "

" Anyway, it is very nice to hear when someone has a good experience at our hospital. Thanks for a great letter, Mr. McDonald! "

Mac wrote on Mar 10, 2010 9:30 PM:

" I quote, "Send him your thanks, not the Board of Directors nor the CEO". Your comment came off like you were admonishing the letter writer for praising the Board and CEO instead of Dr. S. Apparently it was just an awkwardly worded comment that didn't convey what you meant it to. "

Knowledge wrote on Mar 10, 2010 5:43 PM:

" Sorry Mac, I would have to explain everything to you, Dr Skogerson refused a raise. Do you understand that? I am saying, even though 3 doctors were offered raises, one did not accept it, that Doctor was Doctor Skogerson. Two other doctors accepted a 42% raise. It's that simple, now here it is in "black and white"....let's see if this gets posted. The author of this letter was praising him for his expertise in surgery, I am praising him for his profound ethics, but then maybe again, this would not be understood by a liberal. "

Mac wrote on Mar 10, 2010 10:12 AM:

" I don't see the Board or the CEO being thanked anywhere in his letter. So why advise him to thank Skogerson when he clearly did? "

Knowledge wrote on Mar 10, 2010 3:29 AM:

" The surgeons name is Kent Skogerson and he recently refused a pay raise due to the current financial situation at the Health Care District. Send him your thanks, not the Board of Directors nor the CEO. "
