Kern Valley River Council is gearing up for the 7th annual Kern River Clean-Up Day on July 10. “We will meet at the Miracle Hot Springs Day Use area near Hobo campground on the Lower Kern River at 8:30 a.m.,” said organizer Brian Cosgrove. “We will be picking up trash along the Lower Kern River, from Slippery Rock put-in at Keyesville to the Democrat take-out. That’s a 21-mile trip. This is a raft-based clean-up and all all boaters are welcome, as well. Non-boaters should RSVP to insure a spot in a raft,” Cosgrove added.

Shuttles will be provided by local whitewater rafting companies.

To thank everyone who participates in this event, a tri-tip and chicken dinner will be provided at Miracle Hot Springs campground. "Out of the Blue" will provide live entertainment and there will be be prizes, drawings, and T-shirts for all participants.

Those wanting to participate should RSVP to Brian Cosgrove at the Kern Valley River Council at 760-549-3760 or by email at blasttmaan@aol.com. Please bring your own leather gloves, drinking water, and sun screen. Trash bags, rafts, and river shuttle are provided.

This is a great opportunity to make the Kern River an even better place to visit, work on, and live near.
