An argument in Bodfish the night of May 25, 2009 left one man dead and three others with minor stab wounds.

On Friday, July 16, a Bakersfield jury found Crystal Lee Parker of Bodfish guilty of voluntary manslaughter in the stabbing death of Kernville resident Brian Scott Sarver. He was 32.

Parker, 30, faces a sentence of three to 11 years in prison. She is scheduled for sentencing on Aug. 13.

According to Kern County Deputy District Attorney Art Norris, Parker testified at trial that she didn't stab anyone. However, the jury found the evidence showed that Parker did stab Sarver as he sat in the right front passenger seat of a car, as Parker argued with four women.

Two other women in the car received minor stab wounds, as well. Norris said the group of people in the car were trying to leave when they saw Parker with one or more knives.

According to Norris, Parker's boyfriend tried to restrain her, keeping her away from the car, but he let go when he, too, was stabbed in the hip.

The argument between Parker and the other women began with a phone call about a child custody disppute that involved Parker's brother, Norris said.

The women went to Parker's home in the 200 block of Bodfish Canyon Road, in Bodfish, where the incident occurred, sheriff's deputies reported.

Parker has been held without bail since her arrest on May 26, 2009.
