Valley students prepare to travel to Indiana

Kern Valley Future Farmers of America (FFA) has 10 students who will be attending the Indianapolis National Convention in October 2010.

The National FFA Convention is the largest gathering of student leaders in the United States, with over 50,000 members expected to attend.  It is a once in a lifetime opportunity for our 10 local members to meet with other student leaders from throughout the United States, attend leadership and education workshops put on by National FFA officers, learn more about agriculture on a national level, and tour points of interest in the Indianapolis area.

The FFA group and boosters will be fundraising to help with hotel, air fare and registration fees, which total $800.00 per student. Anyone who would like to make a contribution can come by the Financial Aid office at Kern Valley High School. The public is invited to support the FFA fundraising efforts at any of the following events:

August 5— FFA Night at McDonalds in Lake Isabella from  6:00-9:00 p.m.

Our local McDonalds will generously donate a portion of all money raised on this night to the FFA. So come on down for dinner, visit with the FFA members working the event and help us raise some funds!

August 14—Car Wash at Gator’s Garage 8:00 a.m -1:00 p.m. FFA members will be selling hot dogs and drinks for you to enjoy while your car is being washed.

August 15—Spaghetti Dinner at the Eagles Lodge in Mt. Mesa 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Dinner tickets are only $7.00 per plate for a great family dinner.

“We would like to once again thank our community for all the support they have given FFA through out the years. We appreciate your support of these students in all of their FFA activities and projects. Thank you,” said Emily Keverline, Kern Valley High School FFA advisor.
