California Grandmother’s Club #94

The California Grandmother’s Club #94 is looking for new members to join us on the second and third Mondays of each month at 9:45 a.m., at the Senior Center in Lake Isabella. Please join us for fun and friendship – all for a good cause. Coming events include a card party and pot luck on Aug. 16 at 11:00 a.m. Everyone is welcome. California Republican Assembly Club

The California Republican Assembly Club meets the third Thursday of the month at 5:00 pm at the Moose Lodge. For information contact Opal Sass 760-378- 3602.

Eagles-Mt. Mesa

Breakfast every Sunday 9:00 a.m. until noon. Spaghetti dinner first Monday of each month. 8-ball pool Tuesdays at 2:00 p.m. Shuffleboard each Wednesday at noon also mini lunch. Fridays Bingo at noon doors open at 10am. Havilah Centennial Group

The Havilah Centennial Group meets at the Havilah Schoolhouse on the first Saturday of each month at 3:00 p.m. For more information, please contact Janet at 760-379-2636.

 

KRV Garden Group

The KRV Garden Group meets 10:00 a.m. the second Tuesday of each month at a different KRV garden location (most) every month. The group hosts Garden Tours, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on the 4th Saturday of (most) every month. There are no dues, but we welcomes donations for special projects, such as the courtyards at the Kern Valley Hospital and supporting landscape maintenance along Lake Isabella Boulevard. Kern River Valley Poet’s and Writer’s Club

The Kern Valley Poet’s and Writer’s Club meets on the first and third Fridays of the month; anyone attending is invited to read their work and listen and critique the work of others. We welcome new members and give them the opportunity to join our club and have their work published in our anthologies.

All of our published work is written by local citizens. We are always amazed with the quality and expertise of our local writers and interesting poems, stories and essays they present.

Lake Isabella-Bodfish Property Owners Association

The Lake Isabella-Bodfish Property Owners Assoc. will meet Aug. 10 at 2:00 p.m. in the Vets Hall at the Senior Center in Lake Isabella. Our guest speaker this month will be Tim McGlew, CEO of our hospital in Mt. Mesa. We welcome all property owners in Lake Isabella and Bodfish to attend our meetings. As a non-profit association our goal is to improve the quality of life in our community. For more information please call 760-379-5552

Sequoia Amateur Radio Group

Our next meeting is at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 14. Please join us at the Kern River Valley Youth Center, 3640 Golden Spur, Lake Isabella. Admission is free and there will be coffee and donuts available for a small donation. Our scheduled program is the installation and use of a solar system to power one of our local two meter repeaters. We will have a free door prize ticket for everyone in attendance (hams and non-hams) and raffle tickets will be available at $1.00 each, or 6 for $5.00. We have started selling raffle tickets for the grand prize to be given away at our December Diner, a Yaesu FT8900 4 band mobile radio. The winner need not be present at the dinner to win. Ham radio examinations will be available after the meeting (around 11AM) for those wishing to obtain or upgrade a ham license. Eastern Star Cancer Sewing Club

The Kern River Valley Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star sponsors a Cancer Sewing Club which meets monthly at the Masonic Lodge in Kernville. They make items for the City of Hope, UCLA, Loma Linda Hospital and Bakersfield’s Memorial Hospital.

Phyllis Icenbice has made more than 50 lap robes and the group made Christmas deliveries of lap robes and crocheted hats to The Burlington and Kern Village here in the Valley, and crib and children’s lap robes to the Pediatrics Unit at Memorial Hospital in Bakersfield.
