Our view: Righting the Ship
For many readers and web users, blogging has turned into a “narrow minded, selfish tirade no one wants to hear.” To right the ship, so to speak, the Sun is re-establishing the ground rules and guidelines for comments posted on the blogs.
•Be respectful of others, the writer and the subjects in the story.
• Be relevant.
• Comments need to be relevant to the story that is being discussed.
• Posters are responsible for the opinions they express and the accuracy of the information they provide.
• We urge comment writers to treat this as a public forum where manners actually matter.
• We encourage a civil, collegial, and non-insulting tone.
Types Of Comments That Will Not Accepted:
• Potentially libelous statements or damaging innuendo.
• Obscene, explicit, or racist language.
• Personal attacks, insults or threats.
• The use of another person's real name to disguise your identity.
• Comments unrelated to the story.
• Opinions, advice and all other information expressed in reader comments represent the individual's own views and not those of the Kern Valley Sun.
• Using more than one alias is strongly discouraged.
Comments are approved by an editor before appearing on the Web site. Editors review submitted comments periodically during the day. Offensive, off-topic, repetitious and/or redundant content will not be accepted.
In a nutshell, it's pretty basic. Just stay on topic, don't be rude or redundant.
Again, your thoughtful contribution to the online discussion is appreciated. |
