Marilyn Jeanne Franklin passed away on Friday, Aug. 13, 2010 at the age of 73 in Weldon, Calif. She was born to Howard and Jayne Jensen on July 10, 1937 in Los Angeles, Calif. and raised in Arcadia, Calif.

In 1979, she moved to the Kern River Valley with her husband Mike Franklin. Together they operated an E.R.A. Realty Office and later owned and operated Franklin Construction Company.

Among Marilyn’s interests were genealogy, gardening, archeology, and bookkeeping. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.


She is survived by her children Don McKissick and his wife Pam of Glendora, CA, Debbie Walker and her husband Ralph of Weldon, Calif.; Mike McKissick of South Lake, Calif; and Shannon Anderson of Round Rock, Texas. Her grandchildren include Terry, Trevor, and Jaclyn McKissick of Glendora Calif.; Cherie Walton and her husband Ken of Alturas, Calif.; Wesley Walker and his wife Erin of Mt. Mesa, Calif.; Kevin Walker of Prescott, Ariz.; Lisa Lucero and her husband Frank of Round Rock, Texas; David Anderson of Mission Viejo, Calif.; and Chris Hill, of Glendora, Calif. She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren.

Marilyn was a wonderful woman who always considered others’ needs before her own. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
