Paul Edwin Curtis, a long-time resident of the Kern River Valley passed away on Aug. 9, 2010 in Mountain Mesa, Calif.

Born in Fort Benton, Mont. on January 13, 1959 to Elmer Eugene and Doreen Gleason, young Paul found his niche and passion working on cars and was skilled in the trades. His most recent endeavor as an independent contractor for Gerlich-Mitchell Inc. was cut short as he suffered a health setback. This setback allowed Paul to spend treasured time with his family and friends.

In his short life, Paul was able to walk his only daughter, Teshia, down the aisle and to spend enormous amounts of time with the apple of eye, his grandson Cohen. He worked hard in his chosen career, and enjoyed relaxing by spending time with his family and friends.

As a loving father and grandfather to his five children and one grandchild he created a strong family bond which was evident at family events. Paul was quick to talk about his children and grandson, and to tell humorous stories about them.

The impact his life had on several families in the Kern River Valley is monumental and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Paul was preceded in death by his father Elmer Gleason; his stepfather Harry Hanson, and his niece Yvonne Freeman.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Teshia and Jay Starling; his sons Paul II, David, Cody and Ricky; his grandson Cohen; his mother Doreen Hanson; several brothers and sisters Elmer Gleason II, Walter Gleason, Kathryn Gleason, Kimberly and Matt Stockwell, Brian and Kimberly Curtis, Shannon and Dave Thompson, and numerous other relatives.

Paul’s life was celebrated at the Mountain Mesa Church of Christ on Aug. 14, 2010. As the pews filled with friends and loved ones, it became evident how much he loved and how much he was loved by those privileged to know him.
