The Pizza Factory in Lake Isabella is sponsoring an FHA-HERO fundraiser on March 31, from 4:00 p.m. until closing. A portion of the proceeds will help 22 Kern Valley High FHA-HERO students attend the four-day FHA-HERO State Leadership Meeting in Fresno April 9-12.

The total per-student cost to attend is $400 and the group is raising part of the remaining $150 per student.

Kern Valley students are competing in the State Finals for events in Child Development Activity, Interior Design, Nutrition Education, Creed (Public Speaking), Parliamentary Procedure Meeting, Community Involvement Speech, Chapter Manual, and Chapter Exhibit on the topic “Going Green.”

The State Leadership Meeting is the culminating leadership event for FHA-HERO. Members throughout California gather to increase their leadership skills, explore career options, compete in the state finals of the Competitive Recognition Events and elect a new team of state officers. Chapter, region and state awards, recognition, and scholarships are presented during the State Meeting. Members return home motivated and inspired to better fulfill their roles in the home, school and community.

Abbey Stanton, the current State Vice President, is running to be a State Officer. Amanda Moreno, the current Region Secretary, will be installed as a Region Officer.  Trinity Snyder will be completing her term as the Region Reporter.  Nick Solis will receive his Golden State Region Degree, which is the second highest award earned by a FHA-HERO member.
